This work is, of course, in a field rather remote from present turmoils; but if a corner can be found for medieval scholarship, and historical and linguistic learning, may I recommend Mlle d'Ardenne to the Council, very earnestly — by no means disinterestedly, but I hope that will not be held to her disadvantage.

I am being pressed by the Early English Text Society, and by Dr. Ragnar Furuskog of Stockholm (with whom the British Council put me in touch last year), concerning the work of Professor d'Ardenne and myself in our joint field.
I hope I do not unduly stress this aspect; for of course assistance to this eminent scholar, one of the most distinguished in medieval English, is my chief object.

I have heard from Professor Simonne d'Ardenne of Liège that her name has been selected as one to be recommanded to the British Council. She has, I believe, expressed a wish to come to Oxford for a year, and to resume her unfinisehed work with me ; so, possibly, I should have heard in due course from the Council. But I hope I may be in order in speaking for her at once.

Mlle d'Ardenne is a very considerable scholar, and in a field (early English) that is otherwise poorly represented in countries of Latin' Language, to which Belgium largely belongs. She was once my pupil ; but latterly we were working in collaboration. The war cut our communications and left us with much unfinished work on hand. It would be impossible for Mlle d'Ardenne to resume this without residence in Oxford. And, if I may speak of myself, it would be of the greatest assistance to me, if it could be made possible for her to return here for a time. I find it very difficult to pick up the thread without her help. It is not possible for me to go to Belgium ; and in any case our main sources and materials are in England.

Mlle d'Ardennes's work (Sainte Julienne), published in Liège in 1936, was recognized as one the most important works in the field of Middle English for a generation, and is probably the best extent edition of a Middle English text. The work we had plannd was in continuation of the resarch there begun.

Oups, désolé Pellucidar, en effet, c'est un peu du jargon.
Mais oui : j'ai fait aussi bien / mieux que possible.
& Si tu retrouves les scans d'origine, on pourra encore améliorer le rendu. Sinon, pas grave, c'est déjà un superbe fuseau ;).

Je n'ai pas tout compris mais je suis sûr que tu as fait pour un mieux et je t'en remercie.
Pour les scans originels, je pense bien les avoir sauvegardés... Encore faut-il que je me souvienne où ! 

J'achève ce soir le reprisage de ce fuseau des plus excellents, non sans en avoir relu et savouré chaque miette :).
Parmi d'autres choses, j'ai enregistré toutes tes images sur JRRVF sous ton identifiant (tout en conservant, cachés dans ce que l'on appelle les « commentaires » du HTML, tes liens originaux). J'ai aussi formaté l'insertion de ces images en diminuant et en normalisant leur taille à l'affichage du fuseau, l'affichage de leur taille normale se faisant dorénavant par un clic sur l'image.
L'un des intérêts est de pouvoir mettre des images de meilleure résolution.
On pourrait donc maintenant tout-à-fait imaginer remplacer les fichiers actuels par les scans d'origine auxquels tu fais allusion à un moment.
Si cela te dit, tu peux me les envoyer (idéalement, exactement avec le même nom que tu leur as donné ici) ;)
